I have attended North Stafford High School for four years. The campus is beautiful and kept very clean. When I first arrived I had thought that I would surely get lost in such a big school; but that did not happen. The layout of North Stafford is designed in such a way that it is fairly difficult to get lost. Each subject area is put in a separate area of the school to keep it organized. There are many academic opportunities offered. You can take college courses, technical classes, and specialized classes. The core subjects which are: social studies, science, English, and math, go beyond just the basics. Each core has many different course offerings; some of which are required and some which are not. If you are interested in a particular topic within that core, there are classes available that more thoroughly explore that topic. There are also a wide variety of electives you can take, some of which include: horticulture, auto body, parenting, and marketing. There are courses for just about every person. The teachers at North are mostly fantastic. I have formed some great relationships with my teachers. These teachers clearly enjoy their job and care about every student. I have been exposed to many different teaching methods that help me to find how I learn best. Although there are some good ones, there are a couple of issues I have had. I encountered a problem when a teacher did not teach at all. Most of our class time was spent staring at a wall. This teacher was nice but not well-suited for this job. Many extracurricular are available at North Stafford. The athletic program has been said by many to be the best in Stafford County. Football, basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, tennis, and swimming are just some of the sports offered. The football games have high attendance, which stems from the fact that they are winning just about all the time. If you are not interested in athletics, there are also other things to join. Martial arts club, science club, chess club, national honor society, and Chinese club are just a few of the many. These clubs are mainly student run so they get control of what they do, with teacher supervision. I participated in the literary magazine, which is a magazine full of artwork, poetry, and stories from the students and teachers. I had a poem published in it while also editing submissions and putting the magazine together. I had a really fun experience working on it, there were so many good people helping and we formed a close-knit group. My experience with North Stafford High School has been one that I will never forget. Being a teenager is tough but North helped me to develop who I am and the type of people I should be around. If I could plan that far into the future I would want my children to go there just so they can have the great experience that I did.
